Swim Updates

This whole year-round swimming has definitely been a change from summer league in a lot of ways. Kacy has struggled with the level of competition because she almost always placed in summer league. I totally get it because I would get frustrated, too! I was getting worried that she would want to quit, if she didn't start seeing some success. Adilyn gets it, and to her "success" is just beating her own best time. Kacy isn't quite there yet, and so she was getting really irritated. Luckily, there was a meet in November that was a little smaller, and she actually placed in 5 of her 6 events! None were 1st place, but she was just happy to finally get some ribbons. Adilyn finally got her first "B" time, which is the first time standard that they are trying to get. Crazy enough, it was in the 100 yard breaststroke! I think that would be so hard, but I suck at the breaststroke. She continues to take time off, and get closer to lots of other B times, so we are really proud of her. She actually dropped almost 18 seconds off her last 100 IM time! We still aren't quite convinced that she is giving 100% every time (or anytime) she races, but that's up to her to decide to do when she is ready, I guess. :) Regardless of placing or how much someone tries, it's fantastic exercise, and they both seem to really enjoy it. Thankfully, Kacy has made some friends in her group, and she looks forward to seeing them. Kacy's coach is also amazing, and he has helped her technique so much!
I need to snap some pictures of them sometime to go with my blog posts! This is one that I have of Kacy when she was freezing! That is one of the biggest differences of year round swim - cold weather instead of summer heat!
