Brooke's First Day of Mother's Day Out
Brooke started Mother's Day Out at Noah's Ark Preschool this week. I was a little (okay a lot) worried about how she would do. When Cory and I went to the orientation the week before her first day, she did great for the hour. She walked right in to the classroom, and she never looked back. After that, I felt a little better about how things would go. I still thought she might feel that things were different and freak out the day of real school. We walked in, and she seemed perfectly fine. Cory took her in to the doorway, and she just kept on trucking. She went straight for the toys, and she started playing like everything was normal. There were lots of mothers in there, but we just decided to head on out. Cory and I got home and it was super weird to be here with no kids. I went and worked out, Cory did his normal work, and then it was quiet (and pretty relaxing). When I went to get her, I told the teacher that I was there to get Brooke. She said, "Oh, are you the grandmother?" I was completely blown away! Really?!?! I kept my wits about me, and I said, "Uh, no. Just the mother." She was super embarrassed, I felt awkward. She said that she hadn't seen me in the morning, so she just assumed I was the grandmother. Anyway, with that bit of awkwardness behind us, she said that Brooke had a fantastic day. She ate all her lunch, she played with her classmates, and she loved playing with the baby dolls. They said that she did get a little nervous and uneasy when they moved to different places or different rooms, but she was overall just fine. She didn't nap, but that didn't surprise me. The best part of all was that she was so happy! She was so proud of her art work and her "red" learning paper. It was a great day, and I hope it continues through the year :)
