Michigan - Submarines and Stitches

We started off the day by going to the USS Silversides submarine museum. I wasn't sure how the girls would like it, but it was super cool! Most museums have a very strict no touching policy, but this one didn't. They had all kinds of cool stuff set up for people to interact with . You could sit on the gunners on the ships, you could sit down at the cafeteria tables in the submarine, and you could look out an authentic periscope. I think their favorite thing was being about to stand in front of an underwater mural and pretend they were swimming under the submarine. The girls had a lot of fun touring the submarine, and I was surprised at how many questions they asked, and how they really understood how hard it was for these guys to be on the boat in these tiny spaces for so long. Kacy was a little grumpy for some reason, so I made sure to take some pictures of her grumpy face.

After our submarine fun, we stopped by the local farmer's market and got some yummy watermelon and beautiful hand"painted" sugar cookies. The girls loved meeting the farmers and other vendors and sampling all their fruits and vegetables. Our last adventure for the day was to go to Pere Marquette park and play in the sand and the playground there. It was such a beautiful evening. Cory and I relaxed on a park bench while they played for a while. There was a big sand hill that Brooke and I went to play on. She loved running up and running down and running up and running down. She was so cute doing it, that she convinced me to go with her at least 20 times. We would hold hands and run down. Kacy came to join us while Adilyn still played at the park with some kids. She kept saying, "Adilyn should really come over here because she would love it!" Finally, everyone was there running up and down until they were exhausted. We went over to the playground right before we left. Kacy was in one of those metal climbing domes, and she stood up and busted her head open. There was so much blood, it was ridiculous! Luckily, the cut was pretty small, smaller than I had expected, but still big enough to need stitches. We got the bleeding stopped and headed to an urgent care. Everyone handled the situation very well, considering. We were at the urgent care for over 2 hours, and during that time we watched tv, picked a wildflower bouquet for Kacy, and wandered around the parking lot. She ended up with 4 stitches, and we were on our way! Our first stitches - for having kids for 8 years, I think that's pretty good!
