Michigan - Spartans and Lighthouses

We started our vacation in Lansing, so after we had a delicious breakfast at a cute little diner we headed out to explore the Michigan State campus. There wasn't a lot to do, but we explained what a college campus was and showed them the different academic buildings and dorms. They thought it was funny that Nammie had gone to college there when she was just 18 years old. After we were done walking around there, we headed to the beach town on Grand Haven to see Lake Michigan for the first time. Only Kacy was brave enough to go all the was under the chilly willy water. The rest of us wimped out below our waists! We played in the sand, walked on the pier out to our first lighthouse, and played in the sand some more. The girls played "Island Girls" in the rocks for almost an hour. They jumped from rock to rock pretending they were different islands. The weather was amazing! We were outside in the sun in August, and we didn't need a canopy or any shade. I don't even think we were sweating :) It was a great first day! After the beach, we headed to our river house and it was perfect! The place was super nice, comfortable, and in a beautiful setting. The back deck looked right out on the Muskegon River. Cory and I enjoyed a drink out on the balcony until we got too chilly!
