Bites and Scratches

Addy has been getting beat up at school. At least once a week she gets bit or scratched. I have asked her teachers if she is instigating anything, but they have told me that it usually happens when someone wants her toy, and she doesn't want to give it up. I am proud of her for standing up for herself, but I feel so bad that she is so abused. The school has assured me that it's just the age of the kids, and that they are working really hard to get the kids to deal with their frustration in other ways....in the mean time I guess my little one will continue getting beaten up. :(
The worst part about this last bite is that it was her little friend that did it. The other times it has been kids that she doesn't necessarily talk that positively about. She says that they are mean, and that she doesn't like to play with them. This time it was one of the little girls that she says she likes and plays with all the time.
It's so hard to know that she will have to deal with kids being mean to her at different points for the rest of her life. Sometimes I will be there to protect her, but many times I will not. I guess that as she learns to deal with these situations now, it will help her as she has to deal with them when she gets older. It's just hard to know that sometimes she cries, and I can't comfort her.
