I was really looking forward to stopping at the longest go kart track in the United States, but unfortunately there was a huge rainstorm and they were closed. We stopped to eat dinner at a really fun restaurant before heading to our campsite at Charlestown State Park. When we got to the park, we realized that there was nobody there! It was the middle of the week, but still, I was expecting there to be some people there since it was summer. There wasn't, and we essentially had the whole park to ourselves. It was beautiful, and the girls loved riding their bikes all around and exploring all the different campsites. They were trying to find the best ones and the ones that had a good hideout. We bought them walkie-talkies in Memphis, so they would just go off on there own. They loved it! It really was a great campground, and Brooke finally learned to really ride her bike there also. We also took a big hike to Rose Island which was an abandoned amusement park. We thought it was going to be really cool, but it really wasn't. But, it was a crazy hard hike back! I really didn't think we were going to make it :) While we were there, we got a rental car so we could explore Louisville. We went in to the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Kentucky Derby Museum. Both were really fun! I was super impressed with the Kentucky Derby Museum. The kids absolutely loved it. Once again, Cory was way more ready to go than we were. The Louisville Slugger was pretty fun, too. We saw them making McCann's bat (an Astros catcher), so that was pretty cool.
We also went to the Charlestown Family Park, which was the coolest little place! They had outside roller skating, splash pad, and mini golf. It was all you can play for $5 per person. The girls loved it. They skated for a while, and they got all crazy hot and sweaty. It was almost time for them to close, so we played a quick game of mini golf before the sun set. We also had a surprisingly delicious Mexican dinner. Who knew a tiny little town in Indiana would have great Mexican food?
