We are so lucky to have Ryan as a friend for a lot of reasons, but one of them is his connections at the Frio River! :) His dad and uncle own cabins and houses up there, and we get to go stay for cheap (or free!) We always go during the winter, but this is the first time we have gone in the summer for about 6 years. It was so much fun! We got to stay in his aunt and uncle's new house, and it was really beautiful and set up perfectly for us. They have a great living room area which had the Olympics on most days! The girls had tons of fun playing on the hill in the front of the house, playing in the river, collecting rocks and putting them in bottles, riding on the mule, playing hide and seek, and watching cartoons in their own room. Ryan's girlfriend, Robin brought her 2 boys who are 6 and 10. The girls played a little bit with Tommy, the 6 year old, but they mostly played with each other. I kept reminding them all weekend, "The Frio is a 'no fighting' world." They did get along pretty well, so I can't complain too much.
I got a wonderful surprise and got to see Jessica and her whole family! We hadn't seen each other in almost 2 years. Adilyn, Kacy, and Ella had fun playing mermaids and collecting cool rocks. Jess and I got to catch up a little bit. It's great to have friends that you can pick right up with even when it's been a while since you saw them. Although it was a little rough getting there, it was so worth it! Love summer memories!
