In 10 years of trick or treating with kids we have never
once been rained on…until this year. We might as well have more rain because
clearly we didn’t get enough during Harvey. After the amazing Halloween themed meal, the Hrobars came over, and we
powered through the rain. We all got umbrellas and got soaked. I am glad we did
it because it will definitely be a Halloween we will never forget! We only had
to sacrifice a few candies that got too wet. It was also good because the kids
were over the rain much faster than normal, so we didn’t have to stay out too
long. I enjoy trick or treating, but usually a couple of the kids get whiny and
bored if we stay too long. Nobody needs a whining witch or ballerina! So, a soggy 80's girl, zombie ballerina, and cupcake all had a wet, but successful night!

Pumpkin Party
The girls all wanted to do tiny pumpkins this year which was good and bad. It was pretty difficult to carve it, but it was really nice not to have so much pumpkin goo to scoop out! We had two little white cuties and one little orange cutie that got turned into a ghost, a cat, and something that wasn't able to be identified very well.

Old School Carnival
I saw a Facebook post that my elementary school was having a
50th anniversary celebration at their fall carnival. I decided that
I had to go and take the girls! I remember having so much fun at that carnival –
the cake walk, the dunking booth, the smash up the car with a hammer thing, and
all the popcorn! Yes, we actually did have an area where kids got a hammer and
slammed the crap out of an old car. That was the 80’s for ya! The girls had a
great time getting their faces painted (even Nammie), playing games, and
jumping in the bouncy houses. Unfortunately, there was no car smashing going on
this year. Bummer! The best part about it was Mr. and Mrs. Cox were there. They
were my 1st grade teacher and my elementary PE teacher. I still have
so many memories of them. After that, we had pizza at mom’s house, and we had a
great weekend in Fort Worth!

Nature Trails
The 3rd and 5th graders go to a place
called Nature Trails for a field trip every year. Kacy and Adilyn were both
there on the same day, so it was nice to be able to see both of them. I was in
charge of the 3rd grade pulley station, so that was super fun. Ha! I
did get to eat lunch with Kacy, and I stopped by just in time to watch Adilyn
get freaked out by a snapping turtle. They were passing it around, and she
wouldn’t even touch it. It was hilarious! I love my little timid one! I am so
grateful that I get to be at all these things with them and their friends.

Jammie Day!
The girls have quite a few dress up days throughout the year, but without a doubt - pajama day is always my favorite. There is just something about them heading off on the bus in their adorable little jammies that makes my heart happy. Adilyn didn't really have any pajamas that fit her, so she went with comfy lounge pants - good enough!

A Lemonade Stand
The girls had been bugging and bugging me to have a lemonade stand. I didn't want to do it for some reason. I don't know, maybe I had one once and was unsuccessful and it made me sad? Whatever the reason, I was fully and completely against it. Finally, one day it was a beautiful day, and I gave in. They were adorable with it! They made a sign, got all dressed up, and sat out there for about an hour. All the neighbors came by and got some lemonade. They were so proud, and they were so excited to make about $4. Hopefully it got that out of their system because even though they were super cute, it was still a lot of work for not a lot of profit. And it's all about the profit, y'all!

Wedding Fun!
The girls absolutely love going to weddings! They get to
wear pretty dresses and dance the night away. Who doesn’t love that? So, when
it was Ryan’s wedding, it was super exciting for all of us. We have been
waiting for Ryan to get married for years! The wedding was in Brenham, and Cory
had to go up early to help set up, but we just went up on Saturday. The
ceremony was outside, and it was a little hot, but it was pretty quick. The
reception was right inside at an old inn, and it was so much fun! The girls
danced and danced. The adults live streamed the ending of the Astros playoff
game on our phones, thank goodness for technology! It was a great night celebrating
with everyone. Our old friends Tony and Missy were there, along with their
teenagers, and that was fun to see them. We wore ourselves out and headed to
the hotel. We were all exhausted!
