Last Astros game of the season :(

We got the kids "Astros Buddies" passes this season for the Astros games, and we used our last one for the game tonight. Originally, we were hoping that the Astros would still be in the running for some post season action, but unfortunately that didn't happen. The girls have really enjoyed going to the game, and it was an extra bonus because I finally let them get ice cream in the tiny batting helmets. They have been begging for it every single game, and my cheap self finally gave in this game! Both Adilyn and Kacy really get into the game for most of it, and Adilyn asked a lot of questions about why this happens and why that happens. Brooke just likes coloring and eating snacks! After the game, Adilyn and Kacy joined all the other Astros Buddies and ran the bases down on the field. We had to wait for a long time in line, and Kacy was unimpressed with the whole situation. Adilyn thought it was pretty cool that they were actually on the field where the players play. Brooke just wanted to watch them run. :) All in all, it was a great season, and I love that it's something we can enjoy as a family, even if everyone has their own favorite parts.

Volleyball Fun!

I was pretty frustrated after practice the other day, so I decided that if we are going to make it through this season, we need to have a little fun! :) I decided to have the team do some different cheers. When we did the one at the beginning, some of them seemed a little embarrassed, but I think they secretly liked it! The girls all played so great in the game, that I decided to add another one at the end. They loved that one. They were all smiling so big! It was so cute, and it gave me hope that this will be another fun season!

Brooke Starts Dance Class

This tiny dancer is absolutely loving doing dance class at the YMCA. For all these years, Brooke has been dragged around to all her sisters' activities, and she finally gets to do something on her own! She smiles from the minute she walks in that dance room door to the minute she leaves. It's so sweet to see her in the same class that both Adilyn and Kacy danced in. I will say, out of all the girls, she is definitely the most into it! Everyday she wakes up and says, "Is it dance today?"

Hot Shots Volleyball!!!

Another season of volleyball is upon us! This year Kacy is playing up with the big girls in the 3rd/4th grade league. I was not going to coach two teams again, for sure! We had some sweet swim team friends join us, and everyone else is returning from previous seasons. It's been a great season so far! Kacy is doing just fine up with the older girls, and all the kids are the parents are very sweet. I am a little over the coaching thing, but I can power through with these cute gals.
PS - I have been coaching for so long that we have circled back around, and we are the Hot Shots again! Why they don't keep us with the same team name each year baffles me!

Rope Swings!!!

This was the first summer that the girls tried the rope swing at the Frio. Honestly, I wasn't sure that they were going to be able to really do it. Adilyn got it the first time, and she did it perfectly. She even went up there during a time were there were only teenage boys there! The first couple of times that Kacy went, she was a little nervous and held on too long. After a few times, they were both pros. It's a little bit of a pain for me because I have to help them get the rope if they don't catch it, and I have to hold on to a tree or something so I won't float away. So, I am always trying to hurry them up. This last trip, I decided that I was going to let them go and go and go until they were tired. I had no idea that they would last that long! It was crazy - they probably went 15 or 20 times each! Two groups of kids came and went, and they just stayed and kept jumping. Finally, it started to rain, so we left. I think they would have stayed forever! Brooke even got to go this time. The first time, she held on to my back, but the second time she did it herself. Great job, girls!

Labor Day at the Frio

We had such a wonderful Labor Day weekend with the Griffins and the Stocktons at the Frio! All the kids got along perfectly. None of the adults fought either :) We had a great time on our first big group river float, and Mimi and Pops stopped by for a bit to see the land and the river. It was hot, but of course, what else would we expect in August in Texas. Luckily, the Griffins big camper blocked out some of the direct afternoon sun, so that helped. It was hilarious - when the Griffins pulled up Hannah was wearing pink shorts and a yellow shirt. Brooke disappeared and returned wearing a pink skirt and a yellow shirt. I guess she knew she had the opportunity to be her bestie's twin for a little bit. It was so cute! Those two sure do love each other.
It was opening weekend for dove, so the boys all hunted one morning and that evening they took Isaac, Luke, and Kacy back to hunt again. The kids had so much fun. Kacy was the star of the show because she was the only kid that would rip the head of a dove! The boys were cracking up at her.
It was another great weekend being at the beautiful Frio, with beautiful friends, making precious memories.

Year Round Swimming!

Both Adilyn and Kacy wanted to start swimming for the year round swim club here in Cypress, but I was a little skeptical. We decided to do a one month trial to see how they liked it. Adilyn is swimming 4 nights a week for an hour, and Kacy is swimming 3 nights a week for 45 minutes each session. They both seem to love it. It makes for a crazy weekly schedule, but I guess that what's happens when you have your kids involved in things. The biggest issue we had was that Kacy had swim practice that backed right up to volleyball practice. It made for a very long night for that sweet girl! Luckily, she got moved up to the next level after a few weeks, so she now has a little break between swim and volleyball. We have had one meet so far, and they did okay. It's a whole new world for us, for sure! The competition is much harder. Adilyn only swims 50's and up, and Kacy is swimming in 7/8 with some crazy fast girls. We will see how it continues to go. I worry about them burning out, but so far they don't seem to be getting tired of it.
