The girls' school had their very first father/daughter dance this year. Of course, the girls were very excited to get dressed up and go dance. When they got there, Cory said they totally left him in the dust and took off with their friends. He said that he was standing there with all the other dads watching the girls all dance together :) The girls said that they had a lot of fun, but that they hoped that there would be some good desserts and punch. Ha, well, maybe next year!

A Visit from Aunt Marcy
Marcy had a little break from work, and her boys were off with their dad, so she decided to come down to Texas for a visit. We are so glad she did! The girls loved having another person around to play with them and show them some attention! Mom and Marcy met both Adilyn and Kacy for lunch on one of the afternoons, and we just hung around the house and played for the rest of the time. It was so great for her to be here for a little bit to get to know the girls and for them to get to know her.

Plant Shopping and Fairy Gardens
I love planting Spring flowers! Even though they never live too long after it gets hot, I still love them while they last. The girls and I went to our favorite plant store to find just the right ones. I gave the girls my phone, so they could take a few pictures around the place. Little did I know that they would put about 30 pictures on my phone in 10 minutes! They have created a little kids' play area there complete with a couple amazing little fairy gardens. Of course, the kids got all excited, and everyone wanted to have their own fairy garden for our house. Once we saw how much those little things cost, we decided to wait a little bit. :) We picked our flowers and a few bushes, and headed home. Adilyn and Kacy went off to play, but Brooke was my little helper for the planting. She stayed with me, had a lot of fun digging holes, and getting dirty!

Valentine's Day at the Beach
The kids did not have school on Monday, so we decided to go on a little adventure on Sunday. It was a beautiful day in Houston, so we thought it would be fun to go to the beach. On our way down, we stopped at an aquarium and fish hatchery place for a little bit. Unfortunately, it was quite a bit windier and quite a bit chillier on the coast than we were expecting. We decided since it was Valentine's Day and close to our anniversary, that we would head down to Surfside Beach were Cory and I got married. It was so much fun to be back in that spot almost 15 years after we were married. Now, we have our three little crazies with us. It was a bit of a surreal moment watching Cory run around and chase the girls trying to tickle them. I am not sure what I envisioned for our lives, but what we have is so much more than I could have ever envisioned!
The kids played in the sand for a bit, we drew some hearts and other decorations in the sand, and we went for a short walk. I made Adilyn take some pictures of Cory and I in the water, like we did on our wedding day. Cory must not be as strong as he was back then, because he kept telling me how heavy I was :) After a little while, we were all pretty chilly, so we headed back to town.

Brooke's Valentine's Party
Mom was in town to join me for Brooke's little Valentine's Day party at school. I love her preschool, and I love being able to be a part of her special days there! I was in charge of doing an easy craft, so we made little "love bugs" with foam stickers. They also got to eat some Valentine desserts and trade their cards and treat bags. Mom loved coming up and seeing her classroom and meeting some of her friends.

Mardi Gras Party - Tradition Continues!
"Oh, when the Saints come marching in...." Mom has been coming down for a visit every year around Mardi Gras, and it has become a tradition to dress up, decorate, and have a parade. The girls absolutely love it, and I'm pretty sure Mom has just as much fun as they do. They sing and dance until they are all exhausted. This year we decided to add a King Cake to the celebration, but we were not too impressed with the taste. We were not sure if we were supposed to hide the plastic baby in the cake, or if there was another one already baked in. We went ahead and hid the baby and let one of the girls find it. Love that the girls still love dressing up and being silly!

Somerville Camping
Oh, hail! We went camping at Lake Somerville, and we heard that there might be some rain on Friday night, but we were not expecting a thunderstorm that brought hail! It was crazy loud, and all the kids woke up for a while, but luckily we all survived and there was no damage to any of our stuff or the campers. The next day was pretty chilly and ridiculously windy. The kids were fine and rode bikes and played on the boys' longboards, but Dana and I were pretty miserable and cold. We can be wimpy sometimes...when it comes to coldness! Lake Somerville has been pretty beaten up by the floods lately, so there were not a lot of trails open. We did find one area that was open, and we hiked down there for a bit. It was all dead and weird, and it seemed like a wasteland. It's always funny because no matter where we go, the kids find something to entertain themselves with. This time they made two different "camps" and were playing games with each other. Sunday was a beautiful day, so we played some more before we packed up and headed home.
