Adilyn had school on her birthday this year, so she was excited to be with her friends on her actual birthday. The kids get to be on the announcements on the birthday and wear a little birthday ribbon. Brooke and I met her with lunch and a birthday treat, and after school Adilyn got to pick her own dinner spot for her birthday, and we got to skip swim practice. They love swim practice, but they do not love having to wash their hair every single night. So, apparently it was a birthday present to get out of a night of hairwashing! (Disclaimer: We usually wash our hair every other night on normal occasions, but we wash it every night after swim to get the chlorine out.)
She chose to go to the Black Walnut Cafe and Menchie's for dessert. I don't know why, but she thinks that place is "fancy". It's totally not, but it shows how much our kids know about fancy restaurants. She had a great time, but she was a little sad that Cory was in Colorado for work. We facetimed him before we had ice cream, so she felt a little better after that!

Adilyn has changed in a lot of ways this year. She has become braver and more willing to try hard to get better at things. I saw her work really hard in volleyball, and (sometimes) work really hard at swimming. She finally learned to ride a bike, and she learned to dive after me pushing her in quite a few times. Both of those things made her face her fears and accomplish things that were hard for her, something that she hasn't done much in her life thus far. I am so proud of her sticking with something like that. We saw a little competitive spirit in her during swim, which was also nice to see.
She is still ridiculously dramatic and ridiculously stubborn. When she gets mad, there is no stopping her anger fits. She literally becomes a different person, but sometimes we all need to let our feelings out in a bit of a dramatic way I guess :) She still loves to dance and pretend different things with her sisters. She loves her friends, and she is much more social than I ever thought she would be. She loves to be silly and laugh. Out of all the girls, she definitely hates chores the most. Any cleaning day usually turns into a fight with her. I am so proud of all her accomplishments this year, and I love being her mom in the good and the bad times. She teachers me so much every day, and I love seeing her grow into the person that she is meant to be. I love you, my big 8 year old!!!
