Halloween 2014

Halloween was on a Friday this year, so we weren't so rushed! The Hrobars came over for a "spooky foods" dinner, and then we went trick or treating. To start off the night, Kacy and Hudson's teachers were handing out candy at Kacy's teacher's house, so we loaded up the car and drove over. It was only about a mile or two away, so we just threw all the kids in the back of the Expedition. When we got there, we opened up the back and we jumped out like a clown car. Luckily, they thought we were cute, and they didn't seem to care that we were breaking all kinds car seat/seatbelt laws :) We were pretty surprised at how few houses were giving out candy. There were not too many trick or treaters either, but we still got a ton of candy and had fun! We ran into a little friend of Kacy's, and they were so excited to see each other. After we were done, Cory took the big girls to the Hrobar's street, and Brooke and I stayed to hand out candy at our house. We had absolutely nobody come by! It was another great night with a couple ninjas, a blackbelt, an Asian princess, Anna, Betsy Ross, an Awkward Girl, and three townspeople (that's what the kids called Shane, Dana, and Cory).

PawPaw and Nammie Weekend Visit

The girls never understand why PawPaw (Greg) never visits when my mom comes during the week. Kacy was very distraught the he had never seen our new house, so we finally got him down here for a weekend! They came down to watch Adilyn's volleyball game. After her game we went to lunch, and then we came home to hang out. The boys napped while the girls carved and painted pumpkins! We had so much fun with them down here, and it's nice to see Greg be able to spend a little time with them.

Boosterthon 2014

Boosterthon was double the fun this year! Kacy ran first, then Adilyn was second. I love seeing all those little kindergarteners running their little hearts out! Kacy was going all out. She was running super fast, and she barely even looked up for a picture. I finally got her attention, and I motioned for her to come over for a rest. As she walked across the track of crazy 5 year old runners, a kid completely leveled her! It took her quite a while to recover, but I finally convinced her to walk a lap with Ms. Edmonds. I offered to walk with her, but she said, "No, moms aren't allowed on the track." Such the rule follower! :) She was a little disappointed that she only got 24 laps. but had she not gotten hurt, I know she would have blown through those 35 in no time! She was so excited to hug Brooke after she finished.
Adilyn wasn't with her class when her run started. I asked her teacher where she was, and she said that she was in the nurse's office because a boy hit her in the head on their way out. Another mean boy trying to ruin my girls' fun run! :) She seemed fine when she came back out, and she started running her laps. It's so funny how different Adilyn and Kacy are in everything. Kacy was taking the inside track, right in the thick of the action while Adilyn was way on the outside where things were more clear. Adilyn did get her 35 laps, and she ran very well.
As much as I hate fundraisers, I really like the Boosterthon! They teach about respect, exercise and community. The kids always have so much fun during the run, except for the many collisions!

Bubbles of Fun

We were outside playing, and Brooke wanted to play bubbles. I have no idea why, but these bubbles were awesome! We used a big bubble maker (as we call them), and they were lasting forever. They were getting stuck on their heads, they could hold them, and they could even poke their fingers in the middle of them. It was pretty cool. Brooke wasn't the best at "catching" them, but she sure loved running after them and popping them as usual :)

A Quick Campout

The MOMs club had a campout at Double Lake Recreation Area. Cory took Brooke and Kacy up on Friday night, and Adilyn and I stayed back for her volleyball game. After the big win, we headed out to join them. There were about 7 families with about 16 or more kids. We pretty much took over our little "block" of campsites! There were kids riding bikes, playing ball, and just running around everywhere! It was great weather, and everyone had a great time. Kacy was always off with her friend Lorelei, and Brooke had a lot of fun with Ayla. It was a really fun weekend. The coolest thing was to watch certain adults to go on a bike ride or a hike, and they would have a mixture of kids from every family with them. It's great to have a group where the kids all get along pretty well, and they are all comfortable with the parents.

Best buddies - Brooke and Ayla! They are so cute together. It's hilarious to listen them try to have a conversation. At one point, I looked over at them, and they were attempting to play catch with a frisbee :)
S'Mores! Always a camping favorite :)
There was always a least two or three kids in any hammock that we saw. Just chillin'!
Hudson and Kacy's relationship makes me smile all the time!
An intense game of washers...or maybe just playing with the scoring magnets. :)

A Victory for the Heat!!!

We finally won a game!!! We only had 8 players that day and not that many fans, but the girls that were there stepped up and played great! They served wonderfully, and they were all having so much fun. Even though I have had many moments of frustration throughout the season, I think that the girls have all learned something, and I hope that they have had a lot of fun. I have tried to hide my annoyance when they all just stare at the ball as it falls to the floor or when they get up to serve and completely miss the ball :) Adilyn served about 4 or 5 balls over, and many of the girls who had never gotten a serve over actually succeeded! I was so happy to have had a least one win, and the girls were, too! Go Heat!

Who Can We Marry?

Adilyn and Kacy were playing Barbies peacefully the other day for a change, and they were cracking me up with their conversations! I love listening to them interact with each other and talk about different things when I am not involved in the conversation. At one point, they ran out of boys for the girls to marry. Adilyn said, "We can just make the girls marry the other girls because you know, we can love whoever we want." Kacy said, "And boys can marry boys if they really, truly love them. So there's that, too." So cute that they understand that love conquers all, even at this young age. The sisters were happy, and the Barbies were all happy and in love. It was a perfect afternoon :)

Here are some more pictures from a game this season! It's been an interesting adventure :)
Lots of deep breaths, smiles, and laughter!
