9-1-1
Well, tonight we had our first 9-1-1 call. The good thing was that it was not for any real emergency. Adilyn was playing in the front seat of my car tonight when we got home, and I shut the door. The minute I shut it, she pushed the lock button! The very next second I realized that my purse was in the car - with my keys in it! She kept pushing the lock side of the button, and I was trying to get her to press the unlock side. She wouldn't do it! For the first little bit she was just playing around in there. Then, she picked up a drink and spilled it all over herself. At that point, she wanted to me to get her out. When I didn't, she realized that she was stuck. She started to get a little frantic. I was trying to keep her calm (and keep myself calm). My neighbors had come over, and we decided to go ahead and call 9-1-1. Within about 15 minutes, an ambulance and police officer came to the house. They opened the door, and she was really excited to get the heck out of there! Luckily it wasn't hot outside, and the car wasn't on. It was really the perfect day to lock your baby in the car. :( I felt like such an idiot! I know that things that like happen, but it's still embarrassing! Adilyn forgave me and when we got in the house she kept saying, "Bye, bye men! Bye, bye men!" I'm just glad that help came quickly! It could have been much worse! We went back outside to get all the bags out of the car, and I noticed a bunch of little hand prints on my window...I started to feel guilty all over again!!!!
Hugs! (she's getting to be a big girl!)
Adilyn has just started really hugging. She's never been too much of a cuddler, so it makes my heart happy! It's so cute, she'll open her arms real big and then throw them around you and squeeze with all her might! I love it! The only problem is every now and then she'll accidentally hit you in the face when she throws her arms at you, so you have to be careful when she comes at you with those open arms!
Another sign of her getting older...she decided last night that she didn't want to sit on my lap for her "night-night" stories. She wanted to sit next to me on the chair, and she wanted to turn the pages herself. It was cute, but it made me a little sad. I love the nightime cuddles!

Spring Break 2009
Although teaching has its good days and bad days...when the holidays and breaks come around, it is definitely worth it! We didn't have any plans for Spring Break, but it was really nice to hang around the house and be lazy. The first weekend was really rainy and cold, so we all got a little bored. On Monday, I had a doctor's appointment - 25 weeks. Everything looks good with baby #2 so far! Ashly, Jason, and their girls came over for dinner, which was a lot of fun. Adilyn had a little bit of a hard time sharing her toys with Jacey and Audrey, but we worked on it. Tuesday I had great plans to get tons of stuff down, so I took Adilyn to school for a while. I came home and was only there for about 30 minutes before her school called and told me that she had thrown up. She was fine when I took her! I went to get her, and she seemed totally fine. She had been sick and a little congested, so I think it was just congestion that she "coughed up". Well, my plans for having a productive day were over, but we had a fun time playing with stickers, hanging out outside, and taking her baby for a walk.
The next day, Jessica and I had the brilliant idea to meet at the San Antonio Zoo. I think the entire state of Texas had that same idea! It took us almost an hour to just find a parking spot! Once we got there, it was just as crazy inside. We saw a few animals, and then we realized that we would have just as much fun if we went to the park. So, we loaded up the kiddos and went to the park. We were right - they ran around, played on the slides, and had some snacks. It was great to see Jessica and the kids, even if it was a little more stressful than we had anticipated!

My dad and Kris came for a visit on Thursday night. It's always nice to have grandparents around! We planted flowers and went to the Houston Rodeo on Friday. The Rodeo was just as crazy as the zoo! There were people everywhere. Adilyn did not enjoy the animals as much as we thought she was going to. I think she was just overwhelmed - I know I was! It was great to have them down. It's always amazing to have people in our lives that we can make such great memories with! Adilyn is still asking where Mimi and Pops are! :)

Here's Adilyn twirling in her new pink sandals! We had a crawfish boil with our neighbors and a few friends. What a great "vacation"!

Track Practice
Adilyn was sick today, so I had to stay home. Because we have a track meet on Thursday, I still had to go up to school for track practice. Adilyn, her baby doll, and I all went up to school. She was in the mood to walk, but wasn't really walking fast enough. Everywhere we went it took us forever! Anyway, we finally made it out to the field. She was obsessed with getting on the actual track. She kept going over there, getting on the track, and then she would start yelling, "Running!" It was cute, but it sure wore me out! I'm so glad she doesn't have to go to track practice with me everyday. I do hope that one day she will run track. Since I was always so slow, I would love to be able to live vicariously through her! Isn't that every mom's dream??? :)
Words that aren't quite right...
Adilyn is begining to express her feelings more with words, and the result is sometimes hilarious. Here are some of my favorite things that she says...
- Peek-a-boo is "PUCKY!"
- A star is a "twinkle"
- A fork is a "fook" (which sounds like something else)
- Pizza is "pizTa"
- A loud motorcycle is a "daddy" because Daddy has one
- Watering is "waaweeringing" (or something like that)
- Markers are "marks"
I love this little girl.

Bobo wants hugs
One of Adilyn's favorite books is called "Hug". It's about a little monkey named Bobo who is looking for his mommy because he wants a hug. He sees all the other animals hugging, and he gets sad because he can't find his hug. When Bobo starts to cry, Adilyn makes little sad noises. The other day I was trying to take a picture of Adilyn and me reading "Hug" for something for school. Of course, every other day she would have sat still forever while we were reading...today she was not in the mood. We finally got a couple pictures that would work. I also got one of her giving me a hug like Bobo gives his mommy. She's so sweet!

Here's her sad face...

Yao Ming...
Adilyn's cracks me up all the time! Now that she's talking more, she's even funnier. I love teaching her funny things to do because it makes me laugh, and I love to laugh with her! One day we were watching a Rockets game, we decided to teach her how to say "Yao". She got that down pretty good, so then we added the "Ming". So, now she can say "Yao Ming", and she'll say it anytime we see a basketball game. Too funny!
The other thing I taught her to do was say "Yes!" and do the little hand pump thing where you bring your hand down. It is so silly, but hilarious! I love that she tries to be funny and be silly. It makes me look forward to our years of fun and silliness to come! :)
