Gulf Shores Fun

All summer we wait for our big summer trip! This year didn't disappoint! We decided to go to Gulf Shores again, and we found a different house to try out. There was a little bit of drama as we tried to rent it, so we were a little nervous about the whole thing, but the house turned out to be the absolute best house we have ever had! It was beautiful, secluded, and huge. Two story with an enormous living area and deck! So amazing :) The other bonus was they had a kayak that we could use, so we definitely took advantage of that. The only negative was that there were dang jellyfish all over again! Brooke got stung first, then Kacy did. Adilyn didn't, but only because she really never got in the water after the first couple. I was joking that I wanted to grab one to see what it felt like to get stung, but I ended up not having to because I got a pretty nasty sting on my legs. It was annoying, for sure, but nothing that was that horrible. Other than that, the weather was fabulous, the beach was beautiful as always, and we had a fantastic time! We played in the sand, flew kites, went for kayak adventures, and played in the sand. We also played lots of games this time, which was a fun addition. The girls really got into Blokus and Farkle, so it was fun to have something else to do when we weren't in the mood to go out to the beach. I absolutely love these times we have together, and I always look forward to the next one!

Great way to end the swim season!

Adilyn's last swim meet was an invitational that she just barely qualified for. She got to do the 50m back and the 100m back because she got the BB time standard for the 100m back. Unfortunately, she didn't have great races, but she was still so proud to have qualified! We were proud, too! :) The cool thing about the meet was that Olympian, Camille Adams was there. She was just there working with her mom selling swim stuff. The girls couldn't believe how "normal" she was. When I told them that she was going to be a teacher this year, they were amazed. I guess Olympian are regular people after all! She was so sweet, and she took time to talk to anyone that wanted to. It was a great way to end the season!

Surprise Dental Work

We went to the dentist for a normal summer check up the other day, and after the checkups, the dentist was like, "We have some work to do, wanna do it now?" The girls said no, but I said, heck yeah. Kacy had to get two fillings done and Addy had to get two teeth pulled. Some of her back teeth were coming in sideways, so they decided to pull them. Brooke was the only one that got out of it, for now!  It's always hilarious to me when anyone has their mouth frozen, but it's even funnier when it's a kid. Kacy's smile is the best! :)

Fun Day with Friends

We got together with some of our friends to let the kids play and burn off some energy at a trampoline park. It was probably the coolest jump place that we have ever been to. There were a ton of trampolines, but also a super cool climbing area and a huge playscape thing! We couldn't stay very long because Adilyn had a swim meet, but they sure enjoyed the time we were there.

Sweet Summer Sisters

These girls love hard and fight hard. Personally, I like it much more when they choose to love!

Candy Creations Camp

The girls set up "camp" while we waited between Kacy and Adilyn's classes.

Adilyn and Kacy both wanted to do a day camp since I waited too long to sign them up, they both ended up doing the same camp, but at different times. Luckily, it was a camp that they both enjoyed, but it was a little bit of a hassle to drive all the way there so many times. We had a 30 minute break in between the two camps, so we just hung out in the parking lot. The camp was called Candy Creations, and they did two or three different things each day. Some of them were really cool - melted jolly ranchers that looked like stained glass, a homemade chocolate bowl with homemade ice cream, and different shaped lollipops. Adilyn had a tough time the first day because she said that nobody talked to her, but the next day she actually asked some girls her age if she could sit with them. They said yes, and she had so much more fun. I was so proud of her, I don't think I would have been brave enough to do that! Kacy made a little friend on day one, and she had a great week too. It was nice for them to have a little something to look forward to do to break up the monotony of summer. I wish I would have gotten some pictures of the stuff they brought home!
