Swim Banquet

Fleet has a swim banquet each year, but we hadn't gone last year. This year, we got a notice that Adilyn was getting an award this year. Cory decided to take her to it. They had dinner and awards, and they seemed to have a good time. Adilyn got the "Most Improved Swimmer" for her coach's group, and we were so proud of her. I think she felt really proud of herself, and she also got to see all the older kids get their awards and hear where they are going to college. It seemed to inspire her to see where she could be in a few years with some hard work.

Let the Long Course Season Begin

The girls first long course meet of the year was at the Texas A&M natatorium. We took the camper up there and stayed in the parking lot, which was weird, but convenient. It was pretty cool to be there where all the "famous" swimmers swim. They had all the pool records posted on the wall, and Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles were up there. The first long course meet is always a rough one, but they both survived. Kacy had just gotten the times she needed to qualify, so we entered her late in two 50 meter races. Adilyn had quite a few races each day, and she did not have a great meet. She seems to always struggle in long course - it's more of a mental thing than anything. Maybe she can get passed that throughout the season!

Field Day

Field day was another fun day of playing games, having fun, and sweating! I was there literally all day because I had a kid in every session. It was so cute to see Brooke there and doing her thing instead of hanging with me and watching like she used to have to. They had all their normal type games, but this year they had good old fashioned tug of war. The kids always have such a great time, and it's a great break from the normal school day.

Busy Weekends

Sometimes it seems like everything happens at the same time! Both girls are swimming and Adilyn is doing volleyball. There aren't meets and tournaments on the same weekend very often, but when they are things can get a little crazy. It seemed to happen quite a lot this Spring. We have to go from one thing to another, sometimes we show up on time and sometimes we show up late. Cory and I have to pick and choose which kid we are going to watch, and who "gets" the lucky job of waking up early to get them there. Sometimes it gets a little annoying, but then you think about the alternative - everyone sitting around all weekend long being bored and begging to be entertained - that sure doesn't seem any better! I will take busy over bored any day!

Brooke's Birthday Party

Brooke had her 4th birthday party at K2 Gymnastics, and ever since then she has been talking about how she wanted it there again! I guess she really loved it, and I didn't mind because it's close to the house and cheap! So, off we went for her 6th birthday party. Not very many of her school friends came, but it didn't matter because we had plenty of people there for her to have a great time. Honestly, I think that she would have had a great time all on her own. The kids just love jumping around and being crazy! She was all smiles the whole time. She loved her unicorn cake and her presents!

My 40th Birthday Party!

A lot of my mom friends are turning 40 around the same time, so we are trying to celebrate each one in super special ways. When we found out that there was a drag show in Houston on my birthday weekend, we knew we had to go! We had no idea what it was going to be like, but we knew that it had to be an amazing time. Luckily, we were right, and it really was amazing! It was hilarious and entertaining and shocking and hilarious again. All the "ladies" were really great performers, and I honestly don't think that we have laughed that much in a really long time! I am lucky to have these ladies in my life.

We have a 6 year old!

Brooke was so excited to be six! She woke up to an awesomely adorable llama and an amazing sign that my mom ordered for the both of us. She went to school, and Cory and I met her for a birthday lunch. She seemed to have a great day at school, and she loved wearing her special birthday hat. After school, she came home to find the huge Barbie the girls had swim practice, but we all went to dinner that night to celebrate.
Brooke is one of the happiest little things in the world! She has been pretty happy her whole life, and at 6 she is happy most of the time, but she also has a little feisty in her. She is recently getting upset when Adilyn and Kacy don't want to include her. They are kind of out of the "toys" stage of life, and she is still right in the thick of it. I always thought she liked playing alone, but recently she has been wanting some playmates. Kacy and Addy aren't always up for it. I She loves all kinds of toys, but her favorites recently are legos, Barbies, and tiny little things like Shopkins and Squinkies. She loves school, friends, and her teacher. Her teacher says she is quiet, but not too quiet. She doesn't like PE too much, but she loves Art and Music. Every time I see her on the playground she is swinging. I love how happy she is all the time. I love how she stalls me at bedtime and asks me a million questions or makes me kiss her "just one more time." I love her sweet little freckles, and I love her tight hugs. The things drive me crazy are that she never wants to eat her meals. She will snack all day long, but when it comes to meals she has no interest. The other thing that bugs me is that she gets so mad at her sisters so easily, but we will work on that!
I just love this little one so much, and I am so glad that she is the final little piece to our family puzzle! She makes us complete.

Favorite color: Pink
Favorite TV show: anything
Favorite thing to do at school: Art
Favorite place to go: movie theater

Crazy nights

I know that we don't have much different of a schedule from many families these days, but it's still pretty busy on certain nights. There was a couple nights a week where finding a time to fit dinner in was a little difficult. Kacy had drama club late and then had about 45 minutes before she had to be at swim practice. Her school was right by the school she had swim practice at, so there wasn't much point to go all the way home to get dinner. We decided to bring dinner to her and have a dinner park picnic. I love having kids that are involved in things, and I don't mind enchiladas in the park any day!
