Busted!
Kacy came home from school with another great story. Her teacher had told her this whole story about how she baked a cake, and her neighbors had some over and she shared it with them. Then, some more neighbors came over and she shared more with them. She went through the whole thing, and it was clear to me that she was using the story to teach them about fractions. Kacy didn't quite get that out of it, and after she was done, Adilyn said, "Kacy that's not a true story, she was just telling you that to teach you about fractions." Kacy was mad, and didn't believe her! Adilyn said, "The reason I know that, Kacy, is because she told my class the same exact story two years ago!" We all cracked up, but Kacy was legitimately offended by this lie. It was pretty hilarious!

French Horn!
I was never in band at any level, but Adilyn wanted to try it for 6th grade. I really didn't want her to because I just figured that it was one more thing that we would have to keep up with. So, I tried to convince her to do choir or theatre arts, but nothing worked! We went up to the band instrument tryout, which was pretty hilarious. They literally look at the way your lips are shaped, how your teeth are formed, how much air you blow out, etc. It's pretty crazy! After they put you through a little tryout thing, they decide what instrument or instruments you would be good at. Adilyn could have chosen flute, French horn, or tuba. I wanted her to pick tuba so bad because I thought it would be hilarious, but she went with French horn. Good news is that you check them out from school, and you don't have to rent/buy one. Bad news is that it's a pretty hard instrument, and I have absolutely zero skills in music to help her. Oh well, she's on her own for this one!!! She does look adorable holding that huge thing, though!

Storybook Character Parade
Another year of dressing up as a storybook character! Brooke was Pete the Cat, Adilyn was Nancy Drew, and Kacy was Charlotte from Charlotte's Web. They were all so cute!
Garth Brooks!!!
We had heard that Garth Brooks was going to come to the Houston Rodeo this year, but we didn't think much of it. One morning Cory came out of the office and said, "Hey, I think Garth Brooks tickets go on sale today, should I try to get some?" I said sure, not thinking that he would really get them. He came back a couple hours later and said that he got 4 for opening night! I was so excited, and it turns out that we were really lucky to get them. We heard of so many people that tried to get them and didn't! The minute I heard that we had 4 tickets, I knew that I had to get Sonja down here. I couldn't think of anyone else who loved Garth as much as me! It was a Tuesday night, so obviously not the easiest day for someone to go to a concert in Houston that lives in Dallas, but they made it happen. We had so much fun! I think the guys were a little annoyed with the side concert they got from us the whole time, but they still enjoyed themselves. It was so nice to have a night out with the Griffins, and it was just a major bonus to have the night with Garth as well! He put on a great show, and he legitimately seemed so excited to be there. The only negative was that there were so many people, and it literally took us over an hour to just get into the stadium. It was like herding cattle into a very tiny shoot! It was miserable, but it was worth it!

A Girl and Her Hair...
Kacy's hair is beautiful and long and fun to play with and fix different ways. Just recently, she has really gotten in to fixing it and trying different things with it. She also will have times when it drives her crazy and she just wants it off her body! Then, she remembers how much she loves it, and she forgets about how much it bugs her. She was laying on the floor like this the other day, and I thought it looked pretty cool :)

Addy's Short Course Champs
Adilyn had a fantastic short course season! She worked hard, and she dropped a lot of time. It was one of the first times that we have really seen her push herself in practice and in meets. It was so nice to see what she can do, if she puts her mind to it.
This meet was one of her best ones! She dropped 38 seconds in the 500 free, 13 seconds in the 200 free, and 16 seconds in the 200 IM, She ended up placing 3rd overall in the 50 backstroke. The only girls that beat her were the ones in the Gold group. I am so proud of her, and I hope she realizes that hard work really does pay off!

Valentine's Box for Brooke
Brooke kept telling me that she needed a box for her Valentine's cards at school, but her teacher had emailed us and said that they didn't. Well, I am never one to go out of my way to make something if it's not needed, so I just didn't help her make one. I guess some of her friends did make one at home, and she came home on 2/13, and really, really wanted to have one. I wasn't in the mood at all, so I just told her I was sorry, but she wasn't going to get one. She was a little sad, but not horribly upset. The next morning, Adilyn brings down a little Valentine's box for her that she had stayed up to make the night before. It was so sweet, and Brooke was ecstatic! It was adorable. I love when they do nice things for each other.

Father/Daughter Dance
Times they are a changin'! I remember the very first Father/Daughter Dance that the girls went to. It was just Addy and Kacy, and they were so excited. Brooke was too small, so she couldn't go. Then came the next few years, and Brooke was still too young. Finally Kindergarten arrived, and so did Brooke's chance to finally go to a Father/Daughter Dance. Unfortunately, Adilyn had volleyball practice, so she couldn't. Sadly, she wasn't that upset about it. She said that she wanted to go, she just didn't want to wear a dress. Ha! So, I don't think we will ever have a Father/Daughter Dance with all three girls going, but the ones who did go sure had a great time! I went up there to snap some pictures for the yearbook, and it was quite hilarious. All the dressed up dads were standing around just being hot and awkward while the girls ran around like crazy with their friends. Cory looks forward to these dances every year! Ha! Ha!
