Brooke's First Day of School

The last first day of preschool!!! This little cutie is blessed to have Ms. Karen at school this year. She was Kacy's teacher, and we absolutely LOVE her! Brooke was so ridiculously excited to go to school after being home all week the week before after her sisters went back. She had a wonderful day. Most of her friends from last year are in the other class, but she didn't seem to care. She already has quite a few new little friends. So happy that she is in a place that she loves and is happy to go to!

Toothless!

Kacy has the craziest teeth! They are loose forever until they are hanging by a tiny tooth thread - ewww! Well, finally her second top tooth came out which was good because she couldn't eat anything with such a loosey-goosey tooth, but now she is finding that trying to eat with two top teeth missing is also difficult. Hopefully she won't lose anymore before those big chompers come in! She looks like a jack-o-lantern for now. :)

Random Power Outage

Nothing like a power outage on the first week of school to screw up your newly implemented evening routines! We had just finished dinner (luckily) when the power went out. The girls were fine for a few minutes, then the started driving me nuts! "It's hot!", "What can we do?", etc. Cory wasn't home, so we decided to drive around. That's when things got weird...the power was out everywhere we went. I tried to search on my phone, but I couldn't get service to the Internet. People were outside all over the neighborhood. I started getting an eerie feeling. I called Mom and asked her to search to make sure there wasn't some weird Zombie Apocalypse or something! She searched and said that a huge transformer had caught on fire. Thank goodness...nothing to worry about. Well, except the fact that we still didn't have power and it was 95 degrees and it was almost bedtime. So, we decided to stop off at the park for a little random middle of the week play time. They burned off some energy, then we went home to a bath in the dark, and they tried to go to sleep. When Cory got home, we got the generator running for the fridges and a couple fans. We were crazy hot, so we went for a midnight swim to cool down. Of course, about an hour after we finally got everything up and running the power came on. Life is always an adventure :)

First Day of School - 2nd and 4th

These girls are growing up right before my very eyes...times flies when you are having fun...seems like just yesterday they were my babies...and all that jazz! I get tired of hearing people say things like that, but it is so very true. The days, the months, and the years just seem to be flying by! I really feel like they will be off to college before I even have time to realize it. Okay, so I'm being dramatic, but it seriously amazes me sometime when I think Adilyn is going to middle school in two short years! Anyway, their day went great. They both seem to like their teachers so far. Kacy needed an over the top excited teacher this year, and I think she got one. Hopefully she will the the extra "love" that she really craves from this one! Neither one of them got any really good friends in their class, but I am sure they will make new ones. I am so thankful that both of them enjoy school as much as a kid can enjoy school anyway. Looking forward to another fantastic year!

We did have our traditional cakes cut into a 4 for 4th grade and a 2 for 2nd grade, but I can't find them. Lost in a random computer folder, I'm sure!

A Weekend in Fort Worth

We went up to Fort Worth to hang out with Dad for the weekend while Cory went to the Frio to do some work. On Saturday, we went to the kids' art class at the Kimball with Anne and the kids. They learned about Picasso and got to try their own "cubism" piece. After the class, the kids played in the little play area for a bit also. We had a great time seeing everyone! On Sunday, on our way out of town, we stopped and had a delicious breakfast with Mom and Greg. The girls even got a balloon animal for the drive home.

Kacy found a new favorite way to eat bacon - dip it in gravy!
At the Kimball Fine Arts Museum, using the umbrellas to walk the grounds.

End of Summer Fun

The week before summer, I always get a little antsy, knowing that all our free time and lazy days are about to end! So, I try to do some fun things with the girls that week - things that I had been meaning to do all summer :) We had to make our annual trip to Peter Piper Pizza. I love that place because the kids can just run around and play their games on there own. Kacy hit the jackpot on one of the games and got a ton of tickets. The girls also had wanted to go to Jump on In and to a trampoline park, so we did both! Brooke loves Jump on In - she just runs around the whole place like a crazy woman. We also joined Ryan and Cory at the Hunter's Extravaganza. The girls loved getting in the deer blinds and looking at the rattlesnakes. The last thing we did was go to another Astros game. We got to see Jose Altuve's 1000th hit, so that was exciting! Now, off to school life...

Gulf Shores - 2016

The pictures pretty much say it all! We had another amazing time in Gulf Shores. The house was perfect, the beach was beautiful, and the memories were precious. We had some rainy weather off and on, but we were all perfectly happy hanging out inside the house doing puzzles or watching TV. The beach area was great where we were, but unfortunately there were some jellyfish. Mom got stung one day, and Kacy got stung another. Luckily, the stings weren't too horrible, but it was still kind of annoying. We went on a dolphin cruise in Orange Beach one day, but we spent most of the time just hanging around the house. Of course, we spent one day digging another huge hole on the beach! One of the coolest things was when we saw some baby sea turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean! I absolutely love these times of relaxing and having fun with everyone.

Kacy's Ear Piercing

Kacy has been dying to get her ears pierced for months! I finally decided to do it before school started. I told her we could get it done one day, and when I called Sweet and Sassy, the place that Adilyn got hers done, I found out they were closed. I told her we could go to Claire's, but I knew that they didn't do two ears at once. She said she didn't care. Adilyn said, "I don't think that's such a great idea." Kacy said she didn't care. Well...here is how it went! I almost couldn't get her to do the second ear. Poor girl! But, in the end, she has her ears pierced, and all is well. :)
