Easter Camping at Fairfield Lake

We had a wonderful Easter weekend camping with the Griffins. It's always great to spend time with them since we don't get to see them nearly as much as we would like to! We had great weather, and we spent our time fishing, hiking, riding bikes, and playing at a the campground park. The kids all got along so well, and we had a lot of fun celebrating all the Easter activities. We dyed eggs with a million different types of egg coloring kits. We had an Easter egg hunt with candy-filled eggs, and the Easter Bunny brought everyone treats. Sunday morning, the weather was a little chilly, but still nice. We celebrated Brooke and Hannah's 4th birthdays with some cupcakes and a few presents, and then we went for a nice hike by the lake before we headed out. I love our weekends in nature with friends that we love!

Swimming Gets Started

Swim season started early for us this year because we decided to put the girls in a program called, Headstart that is put on by one of the competitive swim clubs nearby. It started off rough, but it has been fantastic for the girls! Poor Kacy had a rough time keeping up with all the kids since she was the only 6 year old in the group. She got really frustrated the very first practice, and she actually quit. I felt so bad for her! She got over it and toughened up really quick. The coaching has been amazing, and both girls have been trying really hard and making some amazing changes. I will be excited to see how it translates into the actual swimming season. It has been very interesting to see how "real" swim coaching can work. Our coach last year was not very good, so I never really knew how you could help these kids, but these coach are fantastic! It makes our weeks very crazy because we swim Monday - Wednesday and have volleyball on Thursday, but it seems like it's going to be worth it.

Easter Egg Hunt in the Pool!

I was asked to create an obstacle course at an Easter Egg Hunt at the YMCA, so I told Cory that he should bring the girls up to get in on the action. Then, once I looked at the flyer, I realized that it was an Easter egg hunt in the pool. I really had no idea what that would mean, but it turned out really cute! They put a bunch of eggs in the pool, and the kids swam around and grabbed them. Exactly what you would expect an Easter egg hunt in the pool would be :) They did it by age level, and the kids all had a lot of fun. They did the obstacle course while they were waiting for their time to go. The Easter Bunny even made an appearance. It was pretty cute!

Spring Break - Part 3

Vegas, baby!!!! Cory and I have not been on a vacation since before Brooke was born, so this vacation was a long time coming! We decided to stay at the Bellagio, and we only got tickets to one show. When we had made the dates, we didn't realize that it was the beginning weekend of March Madness. It was pretty crazy everywhere with all the sports bets, but we love March Madness, so we didn't care too much! The first night we were there, we stayed up late and walked around the area around the Bellagio. We slept in, which was amazing, and then we went down to the buffet for breakfast. Then, we hung around, watched some games, relaxed out at the pool, I worked out at the awesome gym, and we got ready for dinner and our Cirque de Sol show. It was pretty good, but not nearly as good as the one we saw last time. The next day, we did pretty much the same thing! It was nice not to have an agenda, and just relax! We went and saw a show called the "Mentalist", where he supposedly can read people's minds. I am not convinced that it was real, but it was entertaining! After that we ate at a sports bar and watched some more basketball. The next day, our trip came to an end. So sad! We had a great time away, and we enjoyed reconnecting with each other. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for our next anniversary trip!

Spring Break - Part 2

We went up to Fort Worth to drop the kids off before our big Vegas trip, but we had a day to spend in Fort Worth. We spent the night at Mom's house, and we all slept in one room. The beds were pretty much set up like a Tetris game, with a very small walkway for us to get through :) It was a pretty close and comfy situation! The next day we went into the Stockyards and got some old-fashioned pictures taken and explored down there. The old-fashioned pictures were pretty cute. The girls all decided to be "saloon girls" and they dressed up. One of their pictures was with them and some "stolen loot" in the bar background. They had a lot of fun picking out their boots and outfits. After the pictures, we went into the shops to look for a souvenir. All the girls had to try on some cowgirl hats, of course!

Spring Break - Part 1

Once again, the girls were on Spring Break when I was working. We spend some time enjoying the beautiful Spring weather, and the girls read and colored while I did some work. We also tried to do a few things to get out of the house before we went to Fort Worth to make it seem like a bit of a vacation. The first thing we did was go to the museum where they had a little painting craft set up. The girls all painted a fish suncatcher, and we watched some Irish dancers. The girls were not very impressed by the dancing, but they did have a lot of fun with the craft!
I also took them to play some Putt-Putt golf. I should know by now that their version of mini golf is pretty annoying to experience. They all just get annoyed by trying after a few putts, and  just end up dragging the ball into the hole. Every time we go, they seem to have an okay time, but it's just kind of annoying to me. After the game was over, we played some video games, and picked out some prizes with our tickets. Much better than sitting in the house working!

Brooke In Control!

Brooke was "helping" me water the plants one day, and the older girls were doing something else outside. Brooke kept telling them to run through the water, and they kept saying no. Finally, she just sprayed them with the hose. I fully expected them to freak out, but they didn't. They just decided to play in the water hose. Every time they play in water, it takes me back to when they were little. They may be bigger now, but those giggles have stayed the same!

15 Years!

I truly can't believe it's been 15 years since we got married! The girls, Cory, and I watched our wedding video which brought back a lot of memories from our amazing day. We went out to eat to celebrate together. It's been wonderful being with a guy that you truly love more every year you are together, and I am so happy that we met all those years ago in Huntsville. We had so much fun before we had kids - traveling, rock climbing, and boating. Then, once the girls came along, our adventures changed style, but have been equally as exciting! I certainly can't imagine my life without him and our girls! Can't wait for the next 15 years and then some!

Lucky Duck!

Brooke is my little errand running buddy on Mondays and Fridays. Most of the time, we go grocery shopping at HEB. She loves it because they have Buddy Bucks that she gets to use to play the little game after we shop. They get points that they can save up for little prizes, but there are a couple "Instant Winner" spaces as well. This girl is obviously super lucky! She has gotten it three times in about a month or two. Every time she goes to play, she says, "Oh, I hope I get Instant Winner today!"
