Hot Shots finish strong!!!

This season was so much more fun in volleyball! Not only did we win more games, but I was much more patient because I knew what to expect better than I did the first season. The girls improved so much over the season, and we even had a couple rallies during games and learned to serve overhand! I love the parents of the players, and it's just overall an enjoyable time for everyone. We finished the season 5 wins and 2 losses, and we beat the one team that had beat us twice in the last game of the season. Adilyn actually served points 24 and 25 to give us the win. I don't think that I have ever been more nervous for her, and than more proud of her when she served them over! The final score was only 25-22, so if she had missed those serves, they definitely could have come back and won. So proud of all of them! We had an ice cream party at Menchie's to celebrate the season. I hope they come back and play next fall!
*Thanks to Brandon for taking some awesome pictures! It's hard to coach and photograph at the same time, so I am lucky he made it down for our last game to snap a few memories for me :)

Swim Team Fun

Swim team has been an interesting experience for sure! I could make this post all about the things that annoy me about it, but let's stay positive :) First of all, the girls are having so much fun, and it is great exercise for them. They have both made some good friends, and they love hanging out and playing with them during the meets and before and after practice. They are both doing great! Kacy has gotten 2nd or 3rd every meet in freestyle. One little girl is extra fast and always beats her, but Kacy keeps trying hard and getting faster every meet. Adilyn is in a tough age group, but she is doing really well also. She usually gets 2nd in the 100 yard freestyle relay. It's fun to see them improve and be competitive! Sometimes I wish they were just a little more competitive, but then I have to remember that they are 5 and 7 - and maybe competitiveness just isn't in their personality yet or maybe ever!

Funny Kid Quotes

Cory asked Kacy if she wanted him to cut up her sausage. She said no thanks, and he asked her how she was going to eat it. She said, "Watch and learn, Daddy, watch and learn!"

We were talking about a family that we know that has 9 kids. They girls were saying that maybe we should have more kids. I said, "No way, my belly is closed!" Adilyn said, "Well, maybe Daddy could adopt a baby in secret and just bring it home. You couldn't say no to that!"

Randomly, Kacy said, "I bet a whale's biggest fear is to be stuck in the sand."

Brooke said, "I love my blanky so very much. I love you, too, but my blanky is favorite." (Thanks, kid!)

I told Kacy to get in the shower, and she said, "Copy that, boss."

Brooke has started saying "Ow! Ow! Ow!" any time she gets hurt. The other day, she was screaming and I thought something was actively biting her. She said, "It's my mosquito bites, they itch hurt so bad!" I told her that itching is different than hurting. She looked at me straight in the face and said, "No, it's not. It's the same."

Are you coming to the tree???

There was a song that was popular from "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" that Brooke absolutely loved. It went a little like this, "Are you, are you coming to the tree? Strange things have happened here..." She would sing it all the time. Then, it just turned into her asking me, "Mommy, are you coming to the tree?" She probably asks me at least two times a day. I usually try to make up some sort of creative response instead of just saying "no" - but I'm kind of running out of different answers! :)

She also asks EVERY single night at bedtime, "Mommy, are we going to close our eyes?" I have to say, "Yes, we are going to close our eyes." If she forgets to ask or I don't answer, she will yell at me until I come back to her room to get it all sorted out. I couldn't figure out where in the world she got it from, but one day I finally asked her teachers if they say that at school at nap time, and of course, they do. I wonder how long that one will last?!?

Worm Lady!

Kacy's teacher asked me to come teach in her class for Kindergarten Science day, and of course I said yes! Then I found out that it was going to be a lesson on worms, with real worms! I was really excited about that. How exciting to be the "Worm Lady"? All the classes came through the classroom for about 15 minutes at a time. I taught them a little bit about worms, read a book, and then we played with worms. I was pretty impressed that most of the kids at least touched a worm. Some didn't want to hold them, but most all of them at least would "pet" it. If you can "pet" a worm? :)

Mother's Day BBQ

Dana and I are pretty simple ladies, so for our Mother's Day celebration, we just decided to have a swimming BBQ at our house. Dana loves the chicken that Cory makes on the grill, so we did that and some delicious stuffed peppers. The kids had fun swimming, and we got some girl time to hang out while we cooked. The adults still didn't swim because the water was still a little chilly for us! Love sharing this journey of motherhood with so many wonderful mothers and friends.

Spring Dance Recital

Another YMCA Dance Recital in the books! It was so great to find a class that both Kacy and Adilyn could do at the same time. I don't know if they enjoyed it so much, but it made it easier for me for sure! I loved seeing them up on the stage together. The recitals are always so much fun to watch, and this year Amy and Lani came also. The YMCA dance program is perfect for our family, and I have loved watching the girls get a little more coordinated and a little more rhythm each year.

Sister Dance Pictures!

I hate paying for pictures for dance because they don't do a whole group picture, just individuals. When Adilyn had her first recital, I just decided that we would do our own dance pictures in the woods after their dress rehearsal. They turned out really cute, so we have done it ever since! This year's was especially fun because Adilyn and Kacy were together in matching adorable outfits. The weather was perfect, and we got some pretty cute pictures.
