Easter at the Frio

We were lucky enough to stay at Red and Debbie's house for Easter weekend. Ryan and Courtney were there, too. The guys worked a little bit on the land, but not too much. We hung out at the river, swam (the girls did, it was TOO cold for me), played around the house, and had a nice, relaxing time. Brooke, Adilyn, and Kacy helped out pulling the pipes around the land, and Brooke got absolutely filthy! She loved every minute of it. We dyed Easter eggs, and had an indoor Easter egg hunt because it was raining outside. The Easter bunny did find us, and he left some great Easter surprises. :)

Dirty girl!

Awesome lighting for this picture :)

Mighty Mud Run!

Courtney and I did the Mighty Mud Run, a 5K with lots of mud and obstacles. It was a lot of fun, and I love having the girls see me do "fun" exercise. Unfortunately, there weren't many places for them to see us run by, but they still got to see us start and climb over a really tall wall at the end. They also really wanted to do a kids' muddy obstacle course, but they were wearing flip flops and they had to have tennis shoes on. They were both a little mad, but I was really surprised that they even said they wanted to do it! Oh well, we will know for next time. The race was pretty fun, but there were a few obstacles that we didn't do or couldn't do. The monkey bars were really hard, and there was a huge ramp/wall that we didn't even attempt. The most uncomfortable part was a muddy trench of freezing cold water that we had to swim in. There were about 3 guys putting huge bags of ice in it constantly! It was a bit chilly, for sure. Some of the obstacles were a little challenging, and I am really proud of myself for getting all the way across the rope bridge. It was just a rope hung from one end to the other, and you had to use your arms and legs to hold yourself up the whole way. That was definitely the hardest obstacle! My least favorite part was getting hosed off after the race was done. You had to wait in line forever, then they had a water truck with a hose spraying out. It was super cold water, and it was so hard to get every muddy part clean in a super short amount of time. The girls got to get some ice cream after the race, so that was probably their highlight :) They thought it was funny how muddy my booty was. They had no idea how muddy I really was underneath all my clothes! Even when I got home and took a shower, the tub was completely filled with mud. Oh well, it was good, dirty fun!

Adilyn's School Carnival

The Moore Elementary Spring Festival was a lot of fun again this year! Kacy got her hair spray painted, Adilyn loved doing all the carnival games, and Brooke loved eating all the candy. Adilyn also liked the game where you threw a baseball and they clocked how fast it was. She really got into it. I love the cake walk, but the kids were pretty bored with that! It's always fun to go to a good ol' fashioned school carnival :)

Kacy's Spring Fling

Kacy's preschool has been fantastic this year! We have loved everything about it, and her teacher has been absolutely amazing. They had a really cute indoor spring fling and art festival. Kacy's favorite things were the shaving cream table and picking the big nose for a gummy worm. Cory and I volunteered to help, and hung out with Kacy while Brooke stayed in the childcare room for 2 hours, which was quite a milestone. I love seeing her interact with her friends and doing her own thing. She barely even wanted to talk to us because she was so busy doing everything. She is our little Miss Independent.

36 and 2! The Art Party!

We had an art party for Brooke's 2nd birthday, mostly because in her two years the girl has written all over our house with markers and crayons. I thought we would celebrate her love of art by making a "messy art" themed party. Unfortunately, my messy art stations had to be sidelined because it was really rainy and cold outside. I tried to convince Cory to let the kids splatter paint in the house, but he said no! :) Anyway, we had to change things up a bit, but it still turned out to be a great day! The kids did about 2 or 3 projects, and then they were done with all the organized activities. They painted a letter for their name, a mask, and created shaving cream art. I didn't care one bit that they lost interest, and we let them just play upstairs for most of the party. After lunch, some of the kids came back to the art supplies and did their own projects and masterpieces, which was really cute!
We had a wonderful time celebrating with our friends and family, as always! Brooke and Hannah had some special creative art time together at their own little table which was really cute. They basically just dipped brushes in dirty water and put in on the paper, but it held their interest for a while. Brooke was really focused with her art, and seemed to take great care in picking out just the right color.
The kids also got to design their own cupcakes with different color icing and sprinkles. It was so funny to see the ones that love icing, and the ones that don't. Some of those cupcakes were more icing than cupcake :)
