Some short funnies...

1. Adilyn and I went to the library. She wanted to go straight to the books, but I told her, "Mama, has to pee pee." So, we go walking in the quiet library, and Adilyn starts saying in her sweet, but loud voice. "Mama, pee pee! Mama, pee pee!" Everyone turned ane looked, it was great!

2. Just like every good parent, when Adilyn isn't listening to us, we believe that calling her "Adilyn Kade" is going to make her listen better. The other night at dinner, she was throwing her food. We said, "Adilyn Kade, stop throwing your food." She looked at us with her little smirk and started saying, "Addy Kade, Addy Kade, Addy Kade," We couldn't help but laugh. :)

3. Adilyn likes to talk to herself while she falls asleep at night. Tonight she was up in her room saying, "Mama, Addy yuvs ooo." Translation = Mama, Addy loves you. I wanted to run upstairs and hug and kiss her, sweet girl!

A big ouchie

Adilyn has a bad habit of falling flat on her face at school. They say that she likes to push the little cars around; she gets going too fast and then just bites it. She didn' t even remember that she had a huge scratch on her face until we were brushing her teeth that night. She looke in the mirror and said, "Addy ouchie!" and pointed to her head. I kind of forgot about it too, after a couple days. When we went to run errands that weekend, almost everyone that we saw commented on it! "Oh my, what happened?", "That must have been quite a fall.", etc... I started to feel guilty, and I was tired of explaining the story, so we went home after one store! :)

Adilyn and the dogs

Adilyn has a love/hate relationship with our dogs, Zoe and Willow. Right now she likes them, until they get in her way. Here are some recent funny Adilyn - dog stories.

1. We were walking in the bayou. Willow kept running away from us, obviously too far away for Adilyn's liking. She kept yelling, "Willow, 'mere." (come here) Then when she didn't turn around, she would say, "Uh oh!" Kinda like Willow was going to get in trouble.

2. Willow hasn't been eating all her food lately, so all day I will remind her to eat her food. The other day I heard Adilyn saying, "Willow, eat!" Then, I saw her getting the food out of Willow's bowl and walking it over to her. She would bend down and give it to her, and Willow would eat it right out of her hand. Very sweet!

3. Zoe had some cuts on her back, and I would check them everyday and put some medicine on them. The other day Adilyn went over to her sat down, and started looking at her back saying, "Zoe, ouchie, yeah?"

4. I looked in the room the other day and Adilyn was laying on her belly face-to-face with Zoe chatting away. When I asked her if she was talking to Zoe, she said, "yes" and kept right on talking.

Here is a picture of her with Zoe.

Talking, talking, talking

Adilyn loves talking these days! As she is learning new words, she has become very lazy about fully forming her words. She really just says the first syllable of all the words. Some examples - "op" = open, "stick" = stickers, "mark" = markers, and my favorite "ho" = hold. So, basically when she wants me to hold her, what comes out is, "Mama, ho." I haven't been called a "ho" since junior high, I think... :)

Easter

The whole Henderson family went to the Frio River to stay in a cabin for Easter weekend. Adilyn thought it was hilarious that the dogs were in the car with us. It had been a while that since we had traveled with them. We started on our way, and luckily Adilyn likes the car much more than she used to! We made our first stop about halfway there, and we got out of the car and Adilyn had peed sooooo much. The girl loves her juice, and I hadn't really paid attention to how much she was drinking. The entire back of her shorts were soaked, the car seat was drenched, it was a mess. I didn't know what else to do for the rest of the trip, so I put two diapers in her car seat so it would be "dry". I changed her shorts, and we were on our way. Later on in the trip, Kristina (our friend that we were there with), asked, "Why are those diapers in the car seat? Is that a neat mom trick or something?" I had to laugh as I replied, "Nope, it's the best I could come up with so Adilyn would't have to sit in a puddle of pee for two hours!"

We had a lot of fun walking around by the river, coloring eggs, riding in the ATV, and hanging out at the cabin. Adilyn slept well, which was a relief. She hunted for eggs on Sunday morning before we left. There was an egg hunt at school, so she already had the hang of it.

A few cute memories from the trip:

Adilyn was walking with her hands behind her back like she does at school, and she kept saying "choochoo". She wanted everyone to walk in a line with their hands behind their backs and say "choochoo, choochoo"! We took turns being part of the train.

We were coloring eggs, and she couldn't figure out the little egg holder wire thing (who can?) so she used her fingers. They got all stained from the colors, and she was mesmerized by them.

We all love Julio's chips, and they don't sell them here. As soon as we went to the store we got a huge bag. Adilyn loved them as much as we do, and she carried this huge bag of chips around for hours just munchin' on them.

My 31st Birthday

Cory had to go out of town on my birthday, so it was up to Adilyn and I to get the party started. I had a craving for strawberry cake (I could blame the pregnancy, but I always love strawberry cake!) So, I decided to have Adilyn help me bake a cake. She loves to help, but unfortunately these days she makes more of a mess than she actually helps. It was fun anyway, and I was prepared to clean up the extra mess. While we were stirring and eating cake batter I became determined to teach her to say "Happy Birthday, Mama"! It took me many times of repeating syllable after syllable, but she finally got the Happy Birthday part. She was in a really good mood, especially for a Monday night, so it turned out to be an amazing birthday. She kept giving me birthday hugs, which was so sweet! I love that girl!
